Understanding Video Generation Status and How Long to Expect to Wait

Why video takes longer than chat or images

If you're wondering how long AI video generation takes, the honest answer is: longer than a chat reply or an image, and it varies. A chat reply streams back in seconds and an image finishes in a short wait, but a video is rendered by a separate service as a background job. Your clip is queued, rendered, and then delivered back to you when it's ready.

We don't promise a fixed wait time, because it depends on the quality tier, resolution, duration and how busy the rendering service is. What we can do is explain what each status means, so you always know where your clip is.

The statuses, in order

A video generation moves through these stages:

  1. Pending. Your request was received, but the wallet hold hasn't been placed yet.
  2. Reserved. The hold on your balance succeeded and your clip is about to start rendering.
  3. Generating. The clip is actively being rendered. This is where most of the waiting happens.
  4. Completed. Your video is ready to view, download, continue as a chain, or stitch.

Pending and Reserved are usually very brief. If you see Generating, your clip is in progress and you don't need to do anything.

The outcomes that aren't "Completed"

Sometimes a clip doesn't finish. These end states all mean you didn't get a video, and in each of them the hold on your balance is released:

What to do while you wait

You don't need to stay on the page. Video generation runs in the background, so you can keep chatting, plan your next shot, or close the tab. If push notifications are enabled, you can be notified when a clip reaches a final state.

A few habits make the wait easier:

Does a long wait mean something is wrong?

Not necessarily. Rendering is slow by nature. If a clip stays in progress for an unusually long time, SoulrisAI ends it as failed and releases your hold, so a stuck clip can't keep your money tied up indefinitely.

If a clip has been generating for much longer than usual, give it a little more time first, then check your wallet and history. If it still looks stuck, contact us.
