Personalizing the AI With Your Display Name — How It Works

October 11, 2026 · Soulris Team · 2 min read · chat, personalization

What this feature does

If you set a display name in your SoulrisAI profile, the AI knows it and may use it — occasionally, where it fits naturally, such as a greeting or acknowledging something you said. It's not designed to use your name in every message; that would feel more like a mail-merge template than an actual personal touch, which is the opposite of the point.

How to set it

Go to Settings and enter a display name. It applies across all your conversations going forward — you don't need to reintroduce yourself in every new chat.

How it actually gets used

The instruction the AI follows is deliberately restrained: use the name sparingly and only where it feels natural — a greeting, encouragement, acknowledging something meaningful you said — never forced into a sentence just to use it, and never invented as a nickname or title you didn't provide. This is true regardless of which model answers your message, whether chosen by Auto routing or picked manually.

Can I clear it?

Yes — delete the display name in Settings and the AI goes back to not referencing a name at all. This is independent of your response style setting; clearing one doesn't affect the other.

Does this cost anything extra?

No. Display name personalization doesn't change how chat is billed — it's a system instruction added to how your messages are processed, not a separate feature you pay for.

Privacy note

Your display name is used only to personalize how the AI addresses you within your own conversations — it isn't shared with other users or shown publicly anywhere on SoulrisAI. See our privacy policy for the full picture of how your data is handled.

Should you set one?

If you'd like SoulrisAI's responses to feel a little more like talking to something that knows you rather than a generic tool, setting a display name is a small, free way to get that — especially paired with a response style that matches how you actually like to be talked to. If you'd rather keep things purely functional, leaving it blank is just as valid and changes nothing else about how the product works.
