Free-Tier Limits Explained (Quota, Input Length, Device Restrictions)
There are really three separate limits
It's easy to assume "free tier limit" means one simple number. On SoulrisAI it's actually three distinct things, each solving a different problem. Knowing which one you've hit changes what you should actually do about it.
1. The daily message quota
You have a limited number of free messages you can send per day, resetting once every 24 hours at a fixed time. Depending on your timezone, that reset may land a few hours off from your own local midnight rather than exactly at it. This is the most visible limit, and the one most people think of first.
You can extend your daily quota somewhat by watching a short rewarded ad — each verified ad watch grants a small number of extra messages for that day, up to a daily cap on how many times this can be used.
2. The per-message length cap
Separately from how many messages you can send, each individual free-tier message has a maximum length. This exists because a single very long message — a large pasted document, for instance — can cost far more to process than an ordinary short message, even though it would only count as one message against your daily quota. Without a length cap, the quota alone wouldn't actually control cost.
If a message is too long, it's rejected before it's sent anywhere — you're told clearly that it's too long for the free tier, and it doesn't count against your daily quota at all, since it was never actually processed. Your options at that point are to shorten it, or fund your wallet to remove the cap entirely.
3. Device-based restrictions
Your free-tier allowance is shared across the device you're using, not just your individual account — this is specifically to prevent someone from creating many throwaway accounts on one device to multiply their free messages. If a device shows signs of this kind of abuse, free-tier access for accounts on it can be restricted. This never affects paid usage — a restricted device's accounts can still deposit and use the platform normally; only the free, no-cost allowance is affected.
For the overwhelming majority of real users with one account on their own device, this is invisible and never comes up.
How these show up when you hit them
Each of these produces a distinct message in the app, so you know exactly which limit you ran into rather than a generic error — see what happens when you hit your free-tier limit for what that actually looks like and what to do next.
Why limits exist at all
SoulrisAI pays a real cost for every AI response it serves, free tier included. Without limits like these, the free tier either gets abused into unsustainability or has to be funded by raising prices for everyone who does pay — capping it honestly is what keeps pay-per-use pricing fair for paying users too.
